How to Apply
National Unified Admission
Admissions to SCST for current high school graduates based on the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) follow the national and provincial regulations, including the following policies:
1. Score-Based File Submission
Provincial admissions offices submit applications to SCST based on local enrollment plans and a predetermined submission ratio. Applicants are ranked from highest to lowest total scores (including any officially recognized bonus points). SCST determines the submission ratio according to each province’s applicant pool. In general, the ratio does not exceed 120% for sequential preference systems and 105% for parallel preference systems.
2. No Score Gaps Between Majors
SCST does not apply score differentials between majors. Once applicants are submitted to SCST, they are admitted based on total score priority and their major preferences, ranked from highest to lowest scores.
3. Bonus Points Policy
SCST recognizes bonus points granted by the Ministry of Education and provincial admissions offices. Typically, only the highest single bonus item is recognized, up to a maximum of 20 points. These points are added to the total score for major assignment purposes.
4. Major Adjustment Policy
Applicants who meet SCST’s minimum admission score but do not qualify for any of their listed major preferences may be randomly placed into majors with unfilled quotas—only if they agree to accept adjustments. Those who do not agree to adjustments will be rejected.
5. Tie-Breaking Rules
In the event of tied scores, subject scores are compared based on the following order:
- Liberal Arts: Chinese → Foreign Language → Math
- Science: Math → Foreign Language → Chinese
- Reformed Curriculum Provinces (e.g., “3+1+2”): Chinese → Math → Foreign Language
6. Supplemental Admissions (First Round Inadequacy)
If first-round applicants are insufficient, SCST may accept applications from non-first-choice candidates:<br>For parallel preference batches, additional files may be submitted up to 100% of the remaining quota.
For non-parallel batches, additional candidates may be submitted up to 120% of the remaining quota.
If enrollment is still insufficient, SCST may redistribute remaining seats to other provinces with stronger applicant pools.
7. Special Regulations for Reform Provinces
For provinces undergoing high exam reforms, SCST adheres to local provincial admissions office regulations.
8. Art Program Admissions
Applicants for art programs must pass the provincial unified art examination in fine arts/design. If their cultural exam score meets the provincial minimum threshold, they are ranked by total score (cultural + art test), then admitted by score priority and preference order. Tied scores are resolved per local rules.
Shanghai Independent Admission

- Art Sketch Score (For Art Applicants)
Supplementary admission applicants to our school will be selected based on the total admission score, calculated as follows: converted General High School Academic Proficiency Exam results plus the school test score (recognizing the first school-organized art test score). Admission will be granted from highest to lowest scores. In case of identical total scores, the school test score will be compared, with the comprehensive quality evaluation also considered for final selection.
