The School of Marxism at Shanghai College of Science and Technology primarily offers ideological and political theory courses, as well as related general elective courses, for all vocational students.
In recent years, the school has actively engaged in enhancing its teaching practices by exploring structured situational teaching, effectively advancing case-based instruction, organizing ideological and political practice courses, and developing a faculty growth support system. It plays a central role in the college as the main platform for studying, researching, and promoting Marxism, and serves as the key channel for shaping students with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The school continues to strengthen its own development.
Currently, the school has four teaching and research divisions:

- Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics
- Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era
- Current Affairs and Policies
The faculty includes 2 distinguished professors, 9 full-time teachers, and 13 part-time instructors. Among them are 2 PhD holders and 16 with master’s degrees. Academic ranks include 1 professor, 2 associate professors, and 8 lecturers. The school is proud to have 1 recipient of the Shanghai Talent Cultivation Award, 4 recognized municipal-level key instructors in ideological and political theory education for vocational colleges, and 1 outstanding ideological and political educator at the municipal level.
The school collaborates with the Schools of Marxism at East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai University of Sport as part of a local co-construction initiative. It is also a founding member of the national “Urban Heterogeneity and Collaborative Research” Innovation Alliance for Ideological and Political Education.
Faculty Profile
Xu Jinru

Professor (Third-Tier)
Currently serves as the Deputy Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of Shanghai College of Science and Technology, and is recognized as a Rural Culture and Tourism Leader by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China.
He is the author of the monograph Theoretical and Practical Development of Ideological and Political Education of the Party in the New Era (Jilin University Press), and has served as chief editor for over ten publications including Practical Teaching Guide for Ideological and Political Theory Courses in the New Era and Professional Etiquette.
Professor Xu has published over 100 academic papers in core journals such as Journal of Nanjing Normal University, Hubei Social Sciences, Guangxi Social Sciences, Education and Vocation, Vocational Education Research, and Development Research. One of his articles was fully reprinted in Xinhua Digest, and two others were abstracted for reprint. Over ten papers have been reprinted in People’s University Reprint Materials, Philosophical Trends, and Social Sciences Trends. He has led six provincial- and ministerial-level research projects and has received more than 20 awards, including the Provincial Government Award for Excellence in Philosophy and Social Sciences. He also holds 10 utility model patents.
Wang Yina

Associate Professor, Dean of the School of Marxism
Holds a Ph.D. in Literature from East China Normal University and is a certified National Level-2 Psychological Counselor.
Her work focuses on ideological and political education for vocational college students and the teaching and research of traditional Chinese culture. She has published one monograph, co-edited one textbook, authored more than ten academic papers, and led or participated in several research projects. She has received numerous awards, including Outstanding Ideological and Political Worker, Backbone Teacher in Ideological and Political Courses in Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges, Third Prize in the Shanghai Teaching Ability Competition for Ideological and Political Courses, Excellent Teaching Case Award, and the “Morning Light Scholar” award.
Liu Jinjing

Deputy Dean, School of Marxism
A CPC member, holds a Master’s degree in Marxist Theory and Ideological & Political Education from Harbin Engineering University, and is a certified National Level-2 Psychological Counselor.
She teaches and researches courses such as Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Ideology and Morality & Rule of Law, and Current Affairs and Policies. She has co-authored several textbooks, including Microblog and Ideological and Political Education for College Students, and published papers in journals like Youth Era and Times Figures. She has also participated in various research projects.
Wang Yingming

Associate Professor, Director of the “Morality and Rule of Law” Teaching and Research Section
He holds degrees in English Language and Literature from Henan Normal University, Law from Tsinghua University, and a Master’s in Constitutional and Administrative Law from Soochow University.
His teaching and research areas include Ideology and Morality & Rule of Law, Economic Law, and Administrative Law. Since 2000, he has published more than ten papers in core Chinese journals such as Exploration, Theoretical Exploration, and Administration and Law. He has served as chief editor for five textbooks and teaching aids, including Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis—two versions of which were designated as “11th Five-Year” and “12th Five-Year” national planning textbooks by China Machine Press.
Ji Zhengyi

Primarily teaches and researches courses such as Ideology and Morality & Rule of Law, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
Ouyang Min

Teaching Assistant, CPC member, holds a Master’s degree in Law from East China University of Political Science and Law.
Currently a teacher at the School of Marxism, Shanghai Vocational College of Science and Technology, focusing on ideological and political education and Marxist theory.
She has published four academic papers in recent years, including two in Chinese Social Sciences News and Shanghai Education. She has led one college-level research project and participated in several others at municipal and institutional levels.
Zhou Panpan

CPC member, holds a Master’s degree in Education from Hunan University (majoring in Ideological and Political Education).
Formerly taught at Wuhan Engineering Vocational College and is currently a teacher at the School of Marxism, Shanghai Vocational College of Science and Technology.
She focuses on ideological and political education and Marxist theory, has published two academic papers, and participated in two provincial-level research projects. She has received multiple institutional honors.
Ju Ziyu

Master’s in Philosophy, graduated in 2022 from the School of Humanities, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, majoring in Ideological and Political Education.
Currently a teacher at the School of Marxism, Shanghai Vocational College of Science and Technology, focusing on ideological and political education and Marxist theory.
