In order to further deepen the integration of industry and education, strengthen school-enterprise cooperation, implement the requirements of the talent training program, and fully advance the reform of the modern apprenticeship system, the School of Business and Trade held a mobilization meeting for the 2022 cohort modern apprenticeship program on May 20.


Dean Zhang Yaoxiang, Party Branch Secretary Liu Niannian, Vice Dean Cao Chunhua, Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Penghua, advisors of the 2022 cohort, representatives of the 2021 apprenticeship cohort, and all 2022 students of the School of Business and Trade attended the meeting, which was hosted by Vice Dean Cao Chunhua.
First, Secretary Liu Niannian gave a motivational speech on the modern apprenticeship program, highlighting its importance from the perspective of national policy and the school’s pilot experiences in recent years. Through vivid examples, she explained the significance of the apprenticeship system in shaping students’ future careers. She also outlined discipline and safety requirements for students preparing to enter the program.

Dean Zhang Yaoxiang delivered the keynote report titled after this year’s Vocational Education Week theme: “A Skill in Hand, a Lifetime Without Worry.” He explored the deep connection between this theme and the modern apprenticeship system. Dean Zhang systematically explained the purpose, significance, and essence of the program. He encouraged students to cultivate both moral character and professional skills—emphasizing the need to practice diligently, embrace craftsmanship, and strive for both ethical and professional excellence.

Vice Dean Cao Chunhua introduced the policy basis, existing foundation, implementation outcomes, and specific arrangements of the apprenticeship program in the School of Business and Trade. She elaborated on its advantages through past success stories and clearly outlined the steps and timeline for implementation. She emphasized the necessity of the program and urged all 2022 students to participate actively and fully, adhering to the dual management of both the school and internship enterprises to improve their overall competency.

Student representatives Ying Huijie and Xu Yawen shared their personal experiences from interning at the Shangri-La Hotel. They both agreed that the modern apprenticeship system helped them grow quickly, significantly improved their professional skills, and boosted their communication abilities, laying a solid foundation for high-quality employment. Their stories resonated with fellow students and received an enthusiastic response.

This mobilization meeting provided 2022 students with a clear understanding of their third-year study plan and its unique features. It clarified the schedule and expectations of the modern apprenticeship program. The practical training and internship mark students’ first step from campus to the workplace. It is both a test of their previous learning and a crucial stage for refining their professional knowledge and skills. The School of Business and Trade will work together with industry partners to cultivate highly skilled and competent talents that meet the demands of modern industries.
