The School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering

The School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering originated from the university’s long-established Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and is one of the earliest faculties founded. It consists of two specialized clusters focusing on automotive technology and intelligent manufacturing, covering seven disciplines aimed at cultivating highly skilled professionals to meet the industry's demand for multidisciplinary technical talent. The school boasts a strong academic atmosphere, experienced faculty, and dedicated students with a passion for their fields. With over 4,000 square meters of advanced training facilities and more than 1,000 pieces of equipment, it provides comprehensive practical training to enhance students' professional competence and technical skills.

Zongfeng Zou

Ph.D, Professor
Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering

Dr. Zou Zongfeng earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation from Shanghai University, and completed postdoctoral research at Fudan University. He has also served as a senior visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Florida.

With a long-standing focus on the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), automation control, system simulation, artificial intelligence, and big data, Dr. Zou has published over 60 influential papers, including more than 20 indexed by SCI and SSCI. He has led over 20 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, securing more than 10 million RMB in research funding.

Dr. Zou is also Vice President of the Yangtze River Delta LED Lighting Engineering Technology Society and the Shanghai Technology Achievement Transformation Promotion Association, and serves as a specially appointed expert for the Shanghai Arbitration Commission. His accolades include First and Second Prizes for Shanghai Teaching Achievement Awards and the title of “Scientific Research Rising Star” in Shanghai.

The college is actively building a Smart Manufacturing program cluster to align with Shanghai’s key industries, including AI, intelligent manufacturing, and high-end equipment. Programs focus on industry collaboration and hands-on learning, with an emphasis on practical skills, problem-solving, and professional certifications. The goal is to cultivate highly skilled, in-demand talent for the advanced manufacturing and modern service sectors.

Master of Skills Forum, Session 3

On December 24, 2024, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering hosted the third session of the "Master of Skills Forum" featuring Wang Jun, a skill expert from Baosteel, China Baowu Steel Group. His lecture, themed "Empowering with Craftsmanship, Contributing Value through Innovation," encouraged faculty and students to focus on innovation. The event inspired new ideas, and the school plans to continue using the forum to cultivate high-quality skilled talent.

Youth Ignites Innovation, Sci-tech Creates the Future | 1st and 9th Commemoration and New Year Ceremony

On November 28, 2024, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering held the "1st and 9th Commemoration and New Year Ceremony" with the theme "Youth Ignites Innovation, Sci-tech Creates the Future." The event included student awards, cultural performances, and a leadership transition. It recognized outstanding students, showcased values like dedication and patriotism, and introduced new leadership to drive the college’s growth.
