Through the construction of the “Vocational-to-Bachelor Integrated Pathway” pilot program, this major is designed to meet the needs of national and Shanghai’s economic development strategies and the growth of the social service sector. It aims to cultivate high-caliber, interdisciplinary, innovative, and application-oriented talents who embody the values of “helping people help themselves, practice-oriented, integrity and innovation.”

Students will systematically master the fundamental theories and practical skills of social work, gain knowledge of law, finance, and the operation of social organizations, and be capable of applying social work perspectives to identify, analyze, and address problems. Graduates will develop professional competencies in areas such as social research and analysis, social service consulting and project planning, social governance and human resource development, financial empowerment, and education.

They will be prepared for professional roles in various enterprises, social organizations, government agencies, and mass organizations such as the Communist Youth League, trade unions, and women’s federations, or to start their own ventures delivering social services based on their expertise in social work.

This program is jointly implemented with the Social Work major at Shanghai College of Science and Technology and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance as part of the integrated vocational-to-bachelor pathway.
