
On the morning of December 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering held the third session of the “Master of Skills Forum” at the Fifth-floor Lecture Hall of the New Teaching Building. The event featured a special guest, Wang Jun, a skill expert and master from Baosteel, China Baowu Steel Group, who shared his insights. Over 260 teachers and students participated in the event.
Wang Jun has received numerous honors, including the prestigious “China Skills Award,” and served as the Chinese Ambassador for the 46th World Skills Competition in 2021. During the lecture, he focused on the theme “Empowering Life with ‘Craftsmanship’ and Contributing Value with ‘Innovation’ — How Industrial Workers in the New Era Can Work Like Scientists.” He shared his personal journey and growth in the skills field.
Throughout the lecture, Wang Jun actively engaged with the students, discussing the process of achieving success, emphasizing the importance of the working class in China’s industry. He also highlighted that frontline workers can be innovators, encouraging students to focus on their roles, be dedicated, keep learning, and dare to innovate. He urged them to work with “craftsmanship” and “innovation” as their guiding principles, and to approach their work like scientists.
This lecture not only imparted knowledge but also inspired thoughts, allowing the faculty and students to better understand the new responsibilities of industrial workers in the context of China’s innovation in the new era. Moving forward, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering will continue to invite skill masters to share their wisdom, making the “Master of Skills Forum” an important platform for promoting the spirit of craftsmanship and cultivating high-quality skilled talent.
